FDP on ‘Machinery Condition Monitoring’
Aligarh : Subject experts deliberated how the problems of unnecessary maintenance expenses and large amounts of machine downtime can be solved with condition monitoring in machines, providing manufacturers with the real-time machine condition data in the ongoing five-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on ‘Machinery Condition Monitoring’ of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Z H College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
In the inaugural function of the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy Cell sponsored FDP scheduled to conclude on January 14, Prof Pervez Mustajab (Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology) pointed out: “Manufacturing is becoming leaner and more focussed on connected solutions to meet demands with desired quality. The focus has shifted to improve operational efficiencies through automation and condition monitoring solutions, bringing Machinery Condition Monitoring at the front of key Industry 4.0 technologies”.
He also spoke about the achievements of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
ZHCET Principal, Prof M M Sufyan Beg urged the participants to make the most of the FDP.
He said, “This program will further enrich the faculty vitality in key domains of teaching, assessing, and research. These programs improve the educational environment significantly and enhance the academic performance of learners”.
Prof Sufyan also spoke about the achievements of two Bharat Ratna, eight Padma Vibhushan, 11 Padma Bhushan and 27 Padma Shri awardees which AMU has produced.
Highlighting the importance of condition monitoring and maintenance engineering, Prof M Muzammil (Chairman, Department of Mechanical Engineering) delineated the role of condition monitoring in saving the cost involved in maintenance.
He said: “Condition monitoring observes the condition of the equipment and predicts when the maintenance is needed for long-term productivity”.
Dr Sidra Khanam (FDP Coordinator) delivered the welcome address and Ateeb Ahmad Khan (Co-Coordinator) extended the vote of thanks.
Over 160 participants from across the academia and industry including various Indian Institutes of Technology, Indian Institute of Sciences, Jindal Steel and Adani Dahanu among others are attending the ongoing FDP.
