Graduation Day Ceremony at Indian School of Business , Mohali campus

Mohali: 285 students from the Mohali campus of ISB’s flagship Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) graduated today. The rest 598 received their certificates from ISB’s Hyderabad campus earlier on April 05, 2019. Founder and Co-Chairman of Jubilant Bhartia, Hari S Bhartia, was the Chief Guest on the occasion at Mohali. Harish Manwani, Chairman of ISB Executive Board, Sunil Kant Munjal, Chairman of Mohali Campus Advisory Board and Professor Rajendra Srivastava, Dean, ISB participated in the celebrations along with members of the Board, students, families, faculty, staff, alumni and other guests.

With 883 graduates of Class of 2019, the alumni base of ISB has now become 10700 stronger; this makes ISB the fastest growing business school in India to reach the 10000 mark in a relatively short span of 18 years. ISB’s alumni are extant in over 42 countries across the world pursuing successful careers in diverse arenas.

Addressing the graduating class, Hari Bhartia said, “Be agile – run at the speed of the changing times. Know that, today, capital is not an advantage. If you have talent, that’s enough capital. Competition is about innovation – the jobs and skills we are aiming at won’t exist in the next 25 years. You have made great connections here – your faculty and friends, so hold them close and work hard. I congratulate the graduands of the Class of 2019 and wish them many successes as they commence their elevated careers.”

Chairman of the Executive Board of ISB, Harish Manwani, in his address said, “ISB is here to make a difference in the education system in India. I am happy to share that ISB along with the Punjab Government has institutionalised Chandigarh Innovation Circle, which will help the start-up ecosystem in Chandigarh. As you all will be joining the ever-growing connected alumni network of ISB and will wear various hats in life, we would want you all to join us in creating an ecosystem of excellence in higher education in India and impress upon policies that would address the volatilities of the future.”

Sunil Kant Munjal, Chairman of Mohali Campus Advisory Board, addressed the graduands:“The Mohali campus has not only added to ISB’s geographical presence but also has paved the way for research in four new fields – manufacturing, infrastructure, healthcare and public policy. Today is a very important day in your lives, cherish the fruits of your hard work. Remember that you will represent the School everywhere you go, so conduct yourself in the manner that reflects ISB’s values. Contribute to the society and keep your families close. Best wishes to you all.”

Dean Rajendra Srivastava advised the outgoing graduands, “This is the seventh class that’s graduating from the Mohali campus. You are all now transformed birds that are ready to fly across the world, just like the ISB logo where the birds spread their wings and fly. You are now to contribute to global development. In today’s fast evolving world, while we have tried our best to teach you how to balance theory and practice, you have to think beyond traditional boundaries and challenge the status quo and implement your learnings in the workplace. I wish you luck for the new beginnings in your life!”

In his address, Dean Srivastava also added, “The Class of 2019 has been very successful in their placement efforts. With 1301 acceptable offers in hand, it is a 16% growth in the number of offers from the previous year. Around 35 entrepreneurs are venturing on their own and opted out of the placement process of the School. This year’s average CTC of INR 25.09 lakhs per annum is the highest average CTC of any class at ISB so far. The rich profiles of jobs and the compensation offered further strengthens ISB’s position as a go-to school when it comes to meaningful career progression.”

Another milestone for the day was unveiling of the logo of Atal Incubation Centre(AIC) at the campus. Mr. Bhartia unveiled the logo of this incubation and acceleration arm of Indian School of Business, set up in partnership with Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog to nurture innovative start-ups by guiding them to become scalable and sustainable enterprises. Other present on the occasion include Harish Manwani, Chairman of ISB Executive Board, Sunil Kant Munjal, Chairman of Mohali Campus Advisory Board and Professor Rajendra Srivastava, Dean, ISB.

At the ceremony, the School also celebrated the accomplishments of its students by distributing awards to students who excelled in academics, extra-curricular activities and those who had demonstrated exemplary leadership skills throughout the year. Student-elected awards to faculty were also given out today. For the first time, both the merit and all-rounder top awards have been bagged by women students.

The Chairman’s All-Rounder Award was given to Sandeep Ganesh for demonstrating exceptional all-around leadership skills through the year

ISB Scholars of Excellence (Mohali): Abhishek Amar, Nitin Goyal, and Saroj Sudam Jadhav received the ISB Scholar of Excellence was awarded in recognition of outstanding academic performance throughout the year
8 students received ISB Young Leaders award, and 17 students received ISB Torchbearer awards from the Mohali campus. These awards were given to students who have demonstrated leadership skills and all-around excellence throughout the year
