18 Hotel Industry Heads addressed mammoth HR Summit held at LPU
Jalandhar: School of Hotel Management & Tourism and Division of Career Services at Lovely Professional University organized first-ever mammoth global hotel industry’ ‘HR Summit’ at LPU campus, where 18 HR Stalwarts from national & international hotel industry addressed thousands of management students. On this occasion, His Excellency High Commissioner of Namibia to India, Gabriel P Sinimbo also graced the ‘Summit’ specifically with his benign presence. Addressing the galaxy of intellectuals, HE Sinimbo referred India as an incredible country with great human resource, and offered entrepreneurial opportunities in his fast developed country, particularly in the areas of tourism.
Gathered HR leaders at the summit included Directors, GMs, Heads, and Consultants from 16 top national & international Hotel-Chains. All of them pondered on “Future Trends in Hospitality” to churn out the propagating ideas for the betterment of the students, sector and the society. Participating Hotel Groups included Taj Hotels, Radisson Blu, Park Hotel, Hilton Garden Inn, Hyatt Regency, ITC Gardenia, Pullman, Grand Hotel, Marriott International, Vivanta, Suryaa Hotel, Eagle Group and more. Probably, this was the biggest ever Hotel Management summit organised by any university or college in North India to understand the close working of educational institutes and industry.
Key note speaker of the inaugural session was Director Human Resources (The Park Hotel) Deepak Behl. Providing excellent data, he assured all would-be young hoteliers at LPU School of Hotel Management & Tourism that with new openings future of hospitality industry is very promising. On behalf of all other participating HR people, he emphasized that their collective participation is out of social responsibility to awaken, inspire and rightly guide the forthcoming human resource in this sector. On this occasion, his motivating 222 paged book, titled ‘Winning is Everything’, was also launched.
Prior to this, LPU Director General Er HR Singla inaugurated the summit; Director Division of International Affairs Mr Aman Mittal introduced the elite guest of the day H.E. Namibian High Commissioner to the audience; and, Professor Dr Garcha set the context of the summit by inviting all to have frontal attack on all that is inhospitable in the hospitality sector, and to bring forth great thoughts of growth & development. It was also upheld that at LPU the hall-mark for hotel management industry is human touch with meaningful solutions. Executive Dean Dr Sanjay Modi and Head-Division of Career Services Dr Harpal Thethi streamlined the summit, where distinguished professionals of the HR world got engaged in discussions to meet new challenges and create the best opportunities. The summit held at Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium, indeed, brought rare opportunities for students to share their ideas with proficient executives in the field.
