Short-term online course on EVTSM concludes
Aligarh : The week long, short-term online course on ‘Electric Vehicle Technology for Sustainable Mobility’ (EVTSM) of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) concluded with expert lectures on different ideas, frameworks, and technical solutions to address the main challenges related to electric vehicles for a sustainable transportation.
In a series of lectures, Mr Prasanth Kumar Pallani, the Chief Technical Consultant, HarithaTechlogix, Coimbatore discussed spoke on architecture and components of electric vehicles; selection of electric motors and their battery packs; management system for electric vehicles; charging technology; manufacturing techniques; safety and testing standards and simulation of electric vehicles.
He provided a rundown on sizing and control for electric vehicle application and discussed types of electric motors, their functioning, control and selection.
Mr Prasanth gave a precis on the thermal management of high voltage components such as battery, inverter, motor and converter and provided a summary on the types of chargers, charging stations and the charging technology available in India and abroad.
He gave details of the materials used in different components of electric vehicles, explained the regenerative braking system, elaborated various safety testing methods and delineated modelling and simulation of electric vehicles using MatLab-simulink.
In the valedictory session, Dr Sanaur Rehman(Course Coordinator) gave a summary of the Short Term Course and conducted the programme.
Dr Mohammad Asif spoke on the impact of electric vehicles on resource management.
“This course provided the participants with a comprehensive understanding on the expansion of electric vehicles due to their zero tailpipe emissions and low dependency on fossil fuels”, said Mr Nafees Ahmad (Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering).
