Ambuja Cement recognised for Bronze Class distinction by S&P Global Sustainability Awards 2022
Mumbai: Ambuja Cement Ltd., part of the global conglomerate Holcim Group, has been honoured once again with Bronze Class distinction in Sustainability Awards 2022 organized by S&P Global for promoting and implementing excellent environmental, social, and corporate governance practises. In 2021, the Company has also been ranked 5th globally by internationally renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) in the construction materials category.
Over 7500 companies from 61 industries took part in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment and were recognised based on their results. Ambuja Cement’s ongoing commitment towards sustainability ensured company’s achievement.

The Company achieved this acknowledgement as it has been consistently exploring innovative ways in promoting sustainable construction. The Company’s green products portfolio that consists of Ambuja Plus, Ambuja Kawach, Ambuja Compocem and Ambuja Cement (PPC) contributes towards Company’s sustainability goals and objective.
Furthermore, Ambuja is recognised for tackling water scarcity, it is the only Company that is certified for becoming 8 times water positive. To contribute towards a circular economy, Ambuja co-processed around 2.75 lakhs tons of waste in its kilns and captive power plants including more than 83,000 tons of plastic waste. Overall, it consumes about 8 million tonnes of waste derived alternative raw materials such as fly ash, slag, and synthetic gypsum in the manufacturing process.
Ambuja Cement to generate clean and green energy uses a number of measures, from waste heat recovery system (WHRS) to using more renewable energy and reducing the amount of clinker used in cement manufacturing. Ambuja Cements’ vision to become the most sustainable company has led to company’s achievement.
