Akshaya Patra Observes World Environment Day by Organising a Plantation Drive with Corporate Volunteers

Bengaluru: On the occasion of World Environment Day, The Akshaya Patra Foundation in partnership with Arm Embedded Technologies Private Limited and Microland Limited organised a plantation drive in its two beneficiary schools in the city, GHPS Channasandra and GHPS Sadaramangala. The event saw a participation of 55 volunteers. City-based LetsEndorse was the Knowledge and Innovation partner of the event.
Befitting the theme of ‘World Environment Day,’ the initiative was aimed at spreading awareness about environment protection among Government school children. As a part of the event, over hundred saplings, including flowering plants such as Plumeria and Hamelia, fruit-bearing varieties such as Guava, Sapota, and Pomegranate, as well as a few varieties of shrubs were planted.
The volunteers resolved to pay regular visits to the two schools to take proper care of these saplings and educate and encourage children to look after them and plant more trees.
