Faculty development programme held online
ALIGARH : The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Z. H. College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University organized a five-day online Faculty Development and Executive Programme (FDEP) on “Emerging Trends in Mechanical Engineering”.
Welcoming the guest speakers, Dr Farhan Ahmad Shamim, one of the three coordinators of the programme, highlighted the key objectives of the FDEP and elaborated the various contours of the theme of the programme.
Dr Mohd Shaaban Hussain said that 9 invited speakers presented talks on various aspects of the topic while more than 100 participants attended the FDEP from across the world, including from Dhofar University (Oman), United Arab Emirates University (UAE), University of Malaya (Malaysia), University Technology Petronas (Malaysia), Jamia Millia Islamia, National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Birla Institute of Technology-Sindri, Aliah University (Kolkata) and GB Pant Engineering College (New Delhi).
Dr Danish Iqbal said that the invited lectures and talks included “Current trends and future perspectives in advanced machining processes” by Dr Tarlochan Singh from IIT Bombay; “Finite Element Analysis in Solid Mechanics” by Dr Mehnaz Rasool from Islamic University of Science & Technology, J&K; “Fundamentals and Applications of Enriched Computational Techniques” by Dr Azher Jameel from IUST; “Magneto-rheological finishing” by Dr Dilshad Ahmad Khan from NIT Hamirpur; “Capillary flows” by Dr Manjinder Singh from NIT Jaipur; “Corrosion of Metallic Orthopaedic Implants” by Dr Sumanta Mukherjee from BIT Sindri; “Role of Renewable Energy in Buildings” by Dr Tabish Alam from CSIR-CBRI, Roorkee and lectures by Dr Julfekar Arab from IIT Bombay and DrAswani Kumar Bandaru, a Marie-Curie Fellow, Ireland.
Professor Pervez Mustajab (Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology), Professor M M Sufyan Beg (Principal, Z H College of Engineering and Technology) and Prof M Muzammil (Chairperson, Department of Mechanical Engineering) were present during the programme.
