MKS college promotes Indian art & culture, provides platform for all age groups to showcase art

 

Mumbai  : Malini Kishore Sanghvi College of Arts & Commerce also popularly known as Ritambara college has launched “Carpet of Happiness” exhibition, an initiative to introduce India’s rich philosophy, arts, and culture.

The exhibition was launched on March 16th, 2022 – just before the celebration of Holi as a festival of colors and joy. The theme “Carpet of Happiness” allows people to express their joy and happiness on a painting. The topic was chosen to demonstrate that, despite the hardships of the pandemic, nothing can prevent joy and happiness. This exhibition had entries from different part of India like Baroda, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Mumbai etc. Each participant had painted and poured their joy into canvas in the form of a mother and child, nature, beliefs and etc.

Venus Sanghvi is the person behind promoting such events in the college. Being herself an curator, Visual artist, and lecturer – she mentors and organizes these events for students to give them a platform to exhibit their work. Venus has interwoven multiple pieces of canvas to create a variety of rugs. These lovely carpets of various sizes are suspended from the ceiling thus creating an Installation of Joy and Happiness.

The MKS college had also recently hosted inter-collegiate photography competition named as “College in Pixels” to which winners were announced on the opening of the exhibition. There were number of colleges who participated in the competition to name some – BITS Pilani, UPG, Mithbai, St.Andrews and etc.

The college invites people to visit for free-entry in their premises to enjoy the display of colorful artworks which begins from March 16th 2022 till a period of one month or more depending on the pandemic situations.
