GDC Kulgam organizes workshop on ‘Sociological Perspectives of Cyber Crimes’

 

KULGAM : Implementing the action plan of Cyber Jagrukta Diwas, the Government Degree College (GDC) Kulgam today organized a workshop on Cyber awareness titled “Sociological Perspectives of Cyber Crimes”.

The event was held under the chairmanship of Principal of the college, Dr Nazir Ahmad Simnani.

In his welcome address, Dr Simnani emphasized on the role in the capacity of conscious civil society members in instilling the consciousness regarding the cyber threats, cyber crimes and frauds, first in ourselves and correspondingly infusing the same sense in the environment we live in.

Introductory remarks about Cyber Jagrukta Diwas were presented by Prof Sajad Ahmad Shah, Nodal Officer Cyber Jagrukta.

Dr Shabnum Ara, Dean Student’s Welfare, Cluster University Kashmir was the resource person.

In her lecture, the resource person explained all important concepts related to cyber crimes including cyber threats, safety, stalking, phishing, hacking, money laundering, cyber terrorism, security, etc. Students were made aware about different crimes that are punishable under law and were taught how to behave as responsible citizens of the society while using the resources available on the internet.

The event was attended by the students, faculty and staff of the college. NSS volunteers of the college proved to be a great support for the successful conduct of the event.

The event ended with a vote of thanks by Dr Safeer Ahmad Bhat, NSS Programme Officer of the college.
