University of Tokyo: AY 2021 Diploma Presentation Ceremony held

The University of Tokyo AY 2021 Diploma Presentation Ceremony was held at Yasuda Auditorium on Thursday, March 24, 2022.

The ceremony was held two times while taking measures to prevent COVID-19 infection; the 1st instance started at 9:00, while the 2nd instance started at 11:15.

Followed by the University of Tokyo Orchestra’s performance of “Divertimento in D major, K. 136” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the ceremonies began as the president, the executive vice presidents, deans of the Graduate Schools and special guest Mr. MUNEOKA Shoji, chairman of the UTokyo Alumni Association, ascended to the stage in their academic gowns.

President Fujii awarded diplomas to the graduates representing each Graduate School and gave a baccalaureate address to the graduates. Mr. Muneoka then gave a congratulatory address to the graduates, and the representative graduate (1st instance: Mr. BAO Han from the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, 2nd instance: Mr. HIRANO Michitada from the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences) made a speech in reply on behalf of the entire graduating class, after which the ceremony was concluded.

Livestreams of the ceremony were provided, and watched by many graduates and their families who were unable to attend the ceremonies, as well as the general public.
