FDP on ‘Project Writing’
Aligarh : Faculty members of the Department of Surgery, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have been made conversant with the requisites of writing the scopes of projects, crafting detailed schedules and defining the roles, responsibilities, and resources required for a solid base project work plan in the recently held Faculty Development (FDP) Programme on ‘Project Writing’.
“FDP is braced for acquainting the participants with the most effective approaches and methods of describing proposed projects, their purpose, outcomes, and the steps for completing the projects”, said Prof Rakesh Bhargava (Dean, Faculty of Medicine).
Inaugurating the programme, he stressed that project proposals are important for growth and expansion of the departments and the university.
Prof Afzal Anees (Chairman, Department of Surgery) pointed out: “The experience of this FDP will provide the participants with the necessary skills for successfully writing endeavour proposals of academic and institutional importance—necessary for financing various university development activities.
He also spoke on the need for scaling up the innovative projects and broadening the effectiveness of research and innovations.
Talking about the importance of health and research projects, Prof Syed Imtiaz Hasnain (Department of Linguistics) said that the experience of this FDP will enable the participants to effectively inform action, gather evidence, and contribute to developing knowledge.
He added: Perfect project formats allow development planners to focus on a well-defined set of activities, designed to achieve specific goals and purposes.
Prof Wasim Ahmad (Department of Zoology) shared tips on efficacious project writing methods and discussed the importance of data for realistic expectations and clear plans for project cycles.
He made the participants aware of various national and international funding agencies.
Prof Ekram Khan delineated practical challenges for running health and research projects.
Prof Mohammad Azhar Aziz stressed the need for collaborative project writing.
Dr Mohammad Zain Khan presented a step-wise preparation plan for health and research projects.
Dr Shaad Abqari discussed the utilisation of National Health Mission (NHM) funds for health planning, creating knowledge hubs within hospitals, strengthening health care at hospitals, expanding outreach services and improving community processes among other things.
Dr Nafis Faizi discussed various types of funding grants for health and research projects.
Prof Mohammad Habib Raza, Prof Mohammad Aslam, Prof Syed Amjad Ali Rizvi, Prof Syed Hasan Harris, Prof Atia Zakaur Rab, Dr Wasif Mohammad Ali, Dr Mohammad Sadik Akhtar, Dr Shahbaz Habib Faridi, Dr Manzoor Ahmad, Dr Yusuf Afaque, Dr Mohammad Nafees Ahmad and Dr Syed Aakif Faridi spoke on project writing guidelines.
Dr Syed Aakif Faridi extended the vote of thanks.
A total of 100 delegates participated in the programme.
