Ohio State University: Buckeye Booster Drawing enters final weeks
After a week off for spring break, another 100 students, faculty and staff won $100 gift cards this week in The Ohio State University’s Buckeye Booster Drawing. So far, 600 people who have reported their COVID-19 vaccination booster shot have won prizes through the drawings.
There are two more opportunities to win. Students, faculty and staff can enter through the Buckeye Booster Drawing webpage.
Jenny Finnell, office associate in the Department of Physics, is a recent winner. The chance to win the gift card wasn’t her only motivation to report that she had received the COVID-19 booster.
“[I was motivated] to have a chance to win the gift card, but in addition, to help the university keep accurate statistics on the number of people on campus that are boosted,” Finnell said.
To date, more than 26,000 students, faculty and staff have reported information about their booster shots, about 26% of the university community.
Finnell said it was important to her to stay up to date on her COVID-19 vaccinations because of the number of variants spreading. Finnell said she also has a family member who is immunocompromised.
She plans to use her gift card to support humanitarian aid in Ukraine.
“I am going to use some of it to donate to the Red Cross or other reputable charity organization to help the Ukrainian people who are running out of food and water,” she said.
