Final Coors conversation to host journalist, law professor
Big tech, and its role in public discourse, will be the focus of the last in a series of discussions at Cornell around difficult yet timely issues facing the nation.
Organizers of The Peter ’69 and Marilyn ’69 Coors Conversation Series bring in high-profile guests with a range of political viewpoints, to foster greater understanding of important topics.
The event, “Deplatforming: Does Big Tech Protect or Prevent Public Discourse?” will be held April 14 at 6 p.m. in Landis Auditorium, Myron Taylor Hall, and will feature Washington Post columnist Megan McArdle and Columbia Law School professor Jamal Greene.
McArdle is a special correspondent for Newsweek and The Daily Beast. A graduate of the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago, McArdle has been a finance and economics correspondent for The Economist and a business columnist and blogger for The Atlantic.
Greene is a constitutional law expert whose scholarship focuses on the structure of legal and constitutional argument. He teaches constitutional law, comparative constitutional law, the law of the political process, the First Amendment and federal courts.
Rick Geddes, professor of policy analysis and management, and founding director of the Cornell Program in Infrastructure Policy, will moderate the conversation. The Cornell Political Union will host a post-event reception outside the auditorium.
Attendance is free and open to students, faculty and staff with Cornell ID. The event also can be attended virtually by faculty, students, alumni and staff. Register for the Zoom webinar here.
