The University of Rome “La Sapienza” today awarded Eduardo Souto de Moura an honorary degree in Architecture.

Since 2014 Souto de Moura has been full professor of Architectural Design and History at the Politecnico di Milano.

The honorary degree, awarded to the Portuguese architect “for the extraordinary qualities he has demonstrated during his prolific and intense professional activity”, is the latest addition to the awards Souto de Moura has received throughout his career, including the 2011 Pritzker Prize and the “Leone d’Oro” at the 2018 Biennale Architettura, Venezia.

During the ceremony, Souto de Moura held a lectio magistralis on the topic of “History and design: pre-existences as a tool, continuity as a goal.”
