Gannon University: Gannon men’s club lacrosse team wins NCLL Conference Championship

Gannon University’s men’s club lacrosse team was named champions of the National Lacrosse League Conference.

The win came after Gannon (#20) defeated IUP (#14) at home on Sunday, April 10 in overtime at 11-10.

The first quarter was relatively even with Gannon taking a 2-1 lead. However, the Gannon offense clicked in the second quarter as the Knights built up a 7-2 lead. IUP regrouped at halftime and had an outstanding third quarter. They made a large comeback and took momentum away from the Knights cutting the lead to 8-6.

It was anyone’s game in the fourth quarter as IUP and Gannon went back and forth trading goals. Going to overtime was a fitting ending to this battle between two nationally ranked teams. Both teams had an opportunity with the ball in the extra session, but Nick Porciello fed August Snyder for the game winning goal and a Knights win.

Leading the scoring for Gannon was Jamie Alloway with 5G, 1A. The win clinched the Three Rivers Conference Championship for Gannon in the National College Lacrosse League and a host bid in the playoffs the week of April 30.
