RV University recognized for its outstanding contribution to CSR in the education sector
Bengaluru: Bengaluru-based RV University was awarded by Global India Business Forum (GIBF) for its outstanding contribution to CSR in the education sector. Dr Y.S.R. Murthy, Vice-Chancellor of RV University received this award from the Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thawar Chand Gehlot, who was the Chief Guest at the gala event.
In his reaction, Dr Y.S.R. Murthy said, “We have instituted 100 scholarships for meritorious students and those who are impacted by COVID-19 in our first year of operations in 2021. We plan to continue this in the years to come. We are humbled and honoured to receive this appreciation for the work we did to help needy students by providing them with meaningful scholarships. We believe that the economic conditions should not prevent students from losing out on pursuing their dreams of quality higher education. RVU has also signed MOUs with many grassroots community-based organisations and is closely working with them.”
The RV University has forged partnerships, among others, with Grassroots Research and Advocacy Movement (GRAAM), Swami Vivekanand Youth Movement (SVYM), Sochara, HelpAge India, South India Cell for Human Rights Education and Monitoring (SCIHREM) Human Rights Alert, Manipur, the Kohima Institute, Nagaland, the All India Network of NGOs and Individuals working with National and. State Human Rights Institutions (AiNNI) and Manav Chetna Vikas Kendra, Indore to make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged sections of society”.
The Global India Business Forum is a networking platform working to identify business opportunities for the MSME sector in India to trade with other countries across the world. The National Award for Business Excellence was held on Sunday, 24th April 2022 and the awards were given to entrepreneurs, businessmen and achievers from different sectors in Karnataka, under various categories, of which CSR was one. RV University was recognized and awarded for its contribution in this area.
RV University has embedded social responsibility and community outreach into its educational processes. Last year various scholarships were given to merit and deserving students from economically weaker sections. The benefits ranged from a complete waiver of fees for the first year to the reduction of fees of varying amounts in the academic year.
