IIT Madras wins prestigious Mimamsa 2022 Science Competition

Pune:  IIT Madras team conferred with the prestigious Praj-IISER Pune ‘Mimamsa 2022’ – the National Level Science Competition. The winners were presented with the award at the hands of Dr. Pramod Chaudhari, Founder & Executive Chairman Praj Industries in the august presence of Prof. Jayant Udgaonkar, Director IISER, Pune. The Grand Finale was conducted at the CV Raman Auditorium, IISER, Pune on Sunday, 24th April 2022.

After completing 13 years, Mimamsa has gained a reputation as one of the most coveted National Science Competitions for undergraduates in India. By partnering with IISER Pune, Praj aims to facilitate the growth of Mimamsa and promote young researchers and innovators.

This year, Mimamsa saw the participation of more than 4000 students from 300 colleges across the country. Amongst 950 teams that appeared for prelims, four teams got shortlisted for the final round: IISc Bangalore, IISER Kolkata, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee. Highlight of this year was, 42 % of the participants were girls with more than 200 All-Girls teams. Mr. Shishir Joshipura, CEO & MD of Praj inaugurated the three-day Grand Finale on Friday, 22nd April 2022.

Prof. Jayant Udgaonkar, Director, IISER Pune said, “Mimamsa 2022 was the 14th edition and a great success. It is worth appreciating how the Mimamsa team with the help of Praj planned and conducted an event of such a massive scale. This year we had the highest registrations, and the competition was conducted in hybrid mode. It provided an incredible experience to everyone with the science fest and cultural program. Every year Mimamsa is reaching new heights and so are our expectations with it.”

While delivering the Valedictory Address, Dr. Pramod Chaudhari, Founder & Executive Chairman of Praj said, “Science & Innovation are the growth levers for India’s progress. Events like these encourage and provide a strong platform for young researchers and budding scientists. Congratulations to team IIT Madras, on the well-deserved victory and compliments to all participants. Kudos to the organizing committee for their tireless efforts to make Mimamsa 2022 a grand success.” Looking at the science-induced environment created by Mimamsa, one can be assured that now the future of science is in good hands.
