Korea University: Erasmus Plus to Fund Nine KU Researchers & Staff to Visit Bilkent University in Turkey

Europe’s Erasmus+ (Plus) program, supporting interuniversity academic exchanges, has successfully approved

a proposal, jointly submitted by Korea University and Bilkent University in Turkey, to support the travel and

expenses of nine Korea University researchers and staff to visit Bilkent University to foster research links and

benchmark their academic and administrative processes.

These interactions will consist of four individual Korea University researcher visits and one delegation visit of

Korea University administrators over the spring and summer months of 2022. “Our proposal was originally

approved prior to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Mr. Seunghyun Yang, Manager of KU’s Exchange

and Study Abroad Programs in Europe.

“We are very fortunate that international travel has restarted so we can now take advantage of this excellent

opportunity for faculty and staff development.”

Korea University’s participation in the program aligns well with the overall goals of Erasmus+, to foster

mobility and cooperation opportunities in higher education, in addition to supporting priorities and activities

set out in the European Education Area, Digital Education Action Plan, and the European Skills Agenda.

“For many of our administrators this will be their first business trip abroad to see, learn and experience the

systems at a foreign university,” concluded Mr. Yang. “I can’t think of a better place for this learning

opportunity than the premier higher education institution in the fascinating and exotic location of Turkey.”
