Loughborough University: Lightning’s Six Nations heroes set for Franklin Gardens clash
Loughborough Lightning will welcome back its victorious Women’s Six Nations players for Saturday’s landmark clash versus Harlequins Women at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens.
Emily Scarratt, Sarah Hunter, Helena Rowland, Lark Davies, Detysha Harper, Sadia Kabeya, and Emily Scarratt were all part of the England squad that secured a tenth consecutive title following the 24-12 win over France.
Now attention turns to domestic duties once again as Rhys Edwards’ side look to end their Allianz Premier 15s season in style with a standalone match at Northampton Saint’s home ground.
Sarah Hunter, England captain and Lightning’s player/coach, told Loughborough Sport:
“It means absolutely everything (to captain England to a tenth consecutive victory) …I feel super honoured and proud to be part of so many great England sides, from when I got my first Six Nations trophy, to the one I was lucky enough to part of on Saturday.”
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s match, Hunter added:
“It’ll be the second time we’ve played at Franklins Gardens…this time it’s a standalone match so we’ll be the only game on show that day.
“The fanbase we’re growing at Loughborough Lightning is amazing and we’re looking forward to getting as many people as possible down to support us in our last domestic game of the season.”
