Ural Federal University: University Discussed Prospects for Online Education
A strategic session of the association National Platform for Open Education was held at Ural Federal University on May 19 and 20. Representatives of nine leading Russian universities discussed the development strategy of the openedu.ru platform for the next 3-5 years.
The session participants noted that the online learning market is becoming increasingly competitive and turbulent. It is necessary to understand what value proposition the platform carries today, taking into account the implementation of the Priority 2030 and Digital Chairs projects.
The session’s agenda also included the development of the National Open Education Platform’s product portfolio, adjustments to the platform’s pricing policy and mission, and a discussion of open/closed content.
“It was proposed to create a system of the National Open Education Platform Ambassador, to work out the issue of the introduction of subscriptions for access to courses, to expand the segment for corporate partners in creating a navigator for professions with a selection of courses,” noted the organizers of the session.
As a reminder, today the platform hosts more than 860 courses of higher education institutions in Russia. It has 2 million unique users, more than 70 partner universities, more than 129 thousand requests to Yandex in the last 30 days.
The session was attended by representatives of Ural Federal University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, National Research University – Higher School of Economics, Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University, National University of Science and Technology, Moscow State University, Saint Petersburg State University, ITMO University, and National Research Nuclear University.
