CUG: CUG Teachers and Students Win 4 First Prizes in 6th National University Student Geological Skills Competition
On May 20, the three teams from CUG won 1 first prize and 1 second prize for comprehensive application of geological skills, 2 first prizes for field geological skills, and 1 second prize for geological specimen identification. Two teachers, LIU Rong and REN Limin, won the Outstanding Instructor Award. CUG team won the first prize of the group and CUG was given the Excellent Organization Award.
The 6th National University Student Geological Skills Competition was originally scheduled to be held at Chengdu University of Technology in 2020, but was postponed three times due to COVID-19 and was finally held from May 12 to 20 this year both online and offline. The main venue of the competition was at Chengdu University of Technology, and the sub-venues were at each participating university.
CUG’s 3 teams competed with 159 teams from 61 universities including Zhejiang University, Sun Yat-sen University, Northwest University, Central South University, China University of Petroleum, and Ocean University of China.
The National University Student Geological Skills Competition aims to arouse students’ enthusiasm and initiative in learning and applying geological knowledge, improve their field skills, and enhance their comprehensive ability to solve complex geological problems with geological knowledge.
