Sri Sri University Professor wins prestigious Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Excellence Award and India Education Award
Cuttack: Sri Sri University’s Dr Bhagirathi Nayak, an Associate Professor of Information Technology has won prestigious Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Professional Excellence Award in Data Science from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Research Centre, a government of India recognized centre, propagating the scientific spirit as advocated by Dr Kalam.
Before joining Sri Sri University’s Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies (FCMS) in 2014, he worked the major part of his academic career at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur for more than twenty years. As an expert in the field of IT, Business Analytics, Big Data Analytics, Data Mining, Spread Sheet Modeling, he has published more than 40 research papers in International peer-reviewed Journals.
His award was recognition to the work that he is undertaking in industry-academia engagement and in popularising data science and making business analytics accessible to the students and industry leaders. He has also obtained two patents in the area of Computer Science and Engineering.
He was also earlier in the year was felicitated ‘India Education Award’ 2019 at Bangalore. Bollywood actor Ms. Soha Ali Khan presented the trophy to Dr. Nayak. This award is held annually to felicitate academicians who have made significant contributions in their respective academic areas in the preceding academic year. Also for his significant contribution to the Data Science he has also been awarded as the Best Researcher at the Odisha Technological Conclave 2019.
