University of Mannheim: Data science conference CONNECT takes place in person
After two years of online events caused by the pandemic, the CONNECT 2022 conference, which takes place annually at the University of Mannheim, can again take place in person. This year CONNECT is organized jointly by three university institutions: the International Program in Survey and Data Science (IPSDS), the Mannheim Center for Data Science (MCDS) and the Mannheim Business School. The event aims to network researchers, practitioners and everyone interested in data science and to encourage exchange.
At the start of the event, an “Academic Speed Dating” will take place on June 9 from 3 p.m., in which scientists will present their research work in short flash talks and then discuss it in groups of two. The topics addressed can be further deepened over coffee and cake. On the following day, Prof. Dr. Markus Strohmaier, Professor of Data Science at the University of Mannheim since January 1, 2022, gave a keynote on the topic of “Minorities in Social Networks”. In addition, leading experts could also be won for the two panel discussions this year, including Prof. Dr. Heidi Wayment of Northern Arizona University and Dr. Christoph Kern from the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich.
CONNECT 2022 is an English-language event and will take place on June 9th and 10th, 2022 in the Study and Conference Center of the Mannheim Business School. It is aimed at anyone interested in data science. Further information on the program and registration can be found here: https://survey-data-science.net/connect-2022
