Eleni Katz, Magdalena Kuźma, and Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner win Concert Artists Guild competition
Bassoonist Eleni Katz ’20MM ’21MMA, soprano Magdalena Kuźma ’22MM, and pianist Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner ’20AD were named winners of the Concert Artists Guild’s virtual 2022 Victor Elmaleh Competition. Each will receive a U.S. management contract and professional development and networking opportunities from CAG and will appear in recital at Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Music Center in New York. Clarinetist Jonathan Lebovitz and the Galvin Cello Quartet were also named winners of the annual competition. Kuźma and Lebovitz will receive European management through CAG’s partner organization, Young Classical Artists Trust, and will appear in concert at London’s Wigmore Hall.
“Eleni, Llewellyn, and Magdalena all have distinct, curious personalities that we knew we could work well with,” CAG President and YSM alum Tanya Bannister ’01CERT said. What CAG looks for in selecting winners of the prestigious annual competition, Bannister said, has to do with “how good they are as a musician and who they are as a person and what they’re putting out in the world.” The Violin Channel livestreamed a Finalists Showcase on May 25 and the Winners Announcement the next day.
