St. Peter’s High School located to organize a Model UN Conference

Hyderabad: St. Peter’s High School located to organize a Model UN Conference at its premises at Bowenpally tomorrow from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. The 2nd Edition of the Model UN Conference will be participated by over 200 students who will act as delegates representing many countries including USA, Russia, China, India, Pakistan and Turkey. Prof. K. Purushotham Reddy, a well-known Academician will be the Chief Guest and T. Bala Reddy, Chairman of the St. Peter’s Group of Educational Institutions will preside over the conference.

Imagine ff kids are our world leaders, say for a few hours, what do they say about present conflicts and how do they address them. Do they offer any radical solutions? Over 200 students tomorrow will step into the shoes of delegates of countries such as USA, Russia, France, China, India, Germany, Pakisthan and others that are members of the United Nations (UN) and its officials and will debate on current issues such as Food Security, Child Trafficking, This interesting Model UN Conference is scheduled to be held at St. Peter’s High School in Bowenpally on Thursday morning 9.30 am to 12.30 pm for about three hours.

The UNI is approaching its 70th Anniversary next year. The will discuss challenging issues lying in front of UN such as Climate Change and Destruction of Nature; Large Scale Conflicts; Inequality; Poverty, Religious Conflicts and Government Accountability and Transparency. Besides these daunting global issues and challenges, it is also confronted with challenges of its existence such as Outdated structure, Unwidely Organisation, Increasing Demands, Unreliable Funding and Political horse-trading and others. Under this background the second edition of Model UN Conference is organised by St. Peter’s High School at its premises at Bowenpally to mould students to be a true global citizen informed Mr T. Alphonse Reddy, Correspondent of St. Peter’s High School in a press note issued here in the city today.

The Model United Nations @ SPHS is an authentic simulation of the UN General Assembly which introduces students to the world of Diplomacy, International Relations, Negotiation and Decision Making. Every student gives speeches detailing their country’s position on the topic and offering possible solutions. The students of the school numbering 200 will step in the shoe of Ambassadors of countries that are members of the UN. They will debate on current issues on the

Organisation’s vast agenda. They will prepare Draft Resolutions, Plot Strategy, Negotiate with supporters and adversaries. Resolve Conflicts and Navigate the UN’s rules of procedures–all in the interest of resolving problems that affect the world stated Mr A.phonse Reddy.

The Model United Nations(MUN)l at St. Peter’s High School is an innovative educational program that engages middles school and high school students in an exploration of current world issues through interactive simulations and curricular materials.

The MUN is an extra-curricular activity in which students typically role-play delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees.

Since our children are living in a Global Villages, Globe will be their workplace. The distances between nations have shrunk and the boundaries are vanishing. It is more of a peaceful co-existence. So today’s students need to be groomed and orient towards global working requirements. Hence, St. Peter’s High School, Bowenpally has made a very conscious decision to integrate international learning into academics, added T. Alphonse Reddy.
