AMU faculty delivers Keynote address

Aligarh : Professor Nawab Ali Khan, Chairman, Department of Commerce Aligarh Muslim University delivered Keynote address in the inaugural session of the “International Conference on Behavioural Finance” organized by Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad, Prayagraj . The objective of the conference was to focus on contemporary and recent development in the area of Behavioural Finance which is undergoing incessant evaluation in light of emerging scenarios.

While highlighting the importance of behavioural finance Professor Khan pointed out that it is a relatively new field that seeks to combine behavioral and cognitive psychological theory with conventional economics and finance to provide explanations for why people make irrational financial decisions. Within behavioural finance, it is assumed that the information structure and the characteristics of market participants systematically influence individuals’ investment decisions as well as market outcomes.

He further said that the role of behavioural finance is to help market analysts and investors understand price movements in the absence of any intrinsic changes on the part of companies or sectors.
