RV University’s School of Design and Innovation inaugurates new building in RV University campus

Bengaluru: The School of Design and Innovation (SDI) at RV University has been a pioneer in its area, right from the time it commenced operations in September 2020. In this short span of time, SDI has grown rapidly and has now constructed a new aesthetic looking building with the RV University campus to meet its expansion plans.

The spacious building sports a modern look reflecting the true essence of the School of Design and Innovation. In a simple event, it was inaugurated by the Board of Governors of RV Educational Institutions, with ribbon-cutting to the various facilities done by Dr M P Shyam, President, RSST (Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust) and Dr (H.C.) A V S Murthy, Hon. Sec. RSST, among others. The Vice Chancellor of RV University, Prof (Dr ) YSR Murthy and the Registrar Dr Krupashankara were also present at the occasion.

With a total of 19,500 sq. ft. of space, the academic area comprises 16,000 sq. ft. covering three floors and an Amenities area of 3500 sq. ft. The new building also houses the Fabrication, Metal, Wood, and Plastic studios on the ground floor, apart from a 3D visualisation lab with 3D printing and laser cutting facilities.

While the first floor is dedicated to Information, UX, Product, Graphic, Interaction and Spatial Studios, the second floor comprises the Clay Studio and a space for displays and exhibition.

It’s worthwhile to note that RV University is in the process of constructing a new exclusive futuristic campus spread over 4 lakh sq. ft. for its students which is expected to be completed in 20 months’ time.
