Ural Federal University: Ural Interregional Research and Education Center to Receive a Grant in the Amount of 119.4 Million Rubles
Ural Interregional Research and Education Center “Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials” will receive a grant in the amount of 119.4 million rubles from the Russian Government in 2022. Grant recipients among Russian research and educational centers were determined by a council headed by Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and Andrei Fursenko, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation. The final list of 15 grantees was approved by Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
“The allocated grant will certainly give new impetus for the center’s development. It is also a reflection of the work already done in 2021. The center has established itself as a platform for effective dialogue between science, education, business, and government. The Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, and Kurgan Regions are successfully implementing joint projects and are focused on introducing advanced technologies and materials into production,” says Vladimir Yakushev, Russian Presidential Envoy to the Ural Federal District and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Ural Interregional Research and Scientific Center.
According to Victor Koksharov, the Chairman of the Ural Interregional Research and Scientific Center Governing Council and Rector of the Ural Federal University, 80 % of 119.4 million rubles will be spent on activities directly related to the implementation of technological projects. The rest of the money will be spent mainly on the development of human resources potential of technological projects, on the development of competencies of scientists, researchers, and constructors, and on the development of specialized educational programs for enterprises and organizations that are part of the Research and Education Center.
“First of all, projects aimed at import substitution and, of course, world-class projects will be supported. The grant funds are planned to support projects with the participation of key industrial partners of the center: Roscosmos – Scientific and Production Association of automatics named after academician N.A.Semikhatov, Sinara-Transport Machines Holding (part of the Sinara Group), Rosatom, Sensor, Cyberstal, Megahimproject, Unimatik, Mashprom, Kamensk‑Uralsky Metallurgical Works. The projects are implemented in such areas as aerospace, new energy, new materials, new technologies, urban environment and industry ecology,” notes Victor Koksharov.
Ural Interregional Research and Scientific Center development Director Igor Manzhurov emphasizes: the money received from the federal budget will be used primarily for the implementation of breakthrough import-substituting projects, world-class projects, and for the support of scientific teams of projects.
“The support of scientific teams to accelerate the implementation of projects is extremely important. Based on this work, enterprises will further make a financial contribution for the implementation of the developments obtained by scientists at their production facilities. It is important for us to maintain the pace of project implementation in today’s challenging environment, perhaps even accelerate the previously announced deadlines. Many projects are planned for implementation in 2024, but we hope to implement some in 2022 and 2023. First of all, we are focused on import-substituting projects that can be launched as soon as possible,” says Igor Manzhurov.
