Interactive session held
ALIGARH : Eminent geoscientists and national geoscience awardees discussed various “Career prospects in Geology and the way forward to achieve this” at an interactive session held by the Department of Geology, Aligarh Muslim University. They shared their experiences and discussed career opportunities in the field of research and industry and emphasized key points related to quality research and development (R&D) proposals and Start-Up programmes by the government. They also visited the newly established XRF Laboratory in the department.
Chairperson of the department, Professor Kr Farahim Khan informed that the eminent geoscientists who participated in the interaction included Professor NC Pant (National Geoscience Awardee 1996, University of Delhi), Professor Santosh Kumar (National Geoscience Awardee 2019, Kumaun University), Professor PP Chakraborty (National Geoscience Awardee 2003,University of Delhi), Professor NJ Raju (National Geoscience Awardee 2018, Jawaharlal Nehru University), Dr Prahlad Ram (SERB, DST, Govt of India), Dr SP Pradhan (Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee), Dr Yusuf Khandey (Geological Survey of India, Govt. of India) and Dr Shamim A Dar (Banaras Hindu University).
Professor MEA Mondal introduced the dignitaries and conducted the session attended by research scholars and the postgraduate students. Professor Rashid Umar proposed a vote of thanks
