Vice Chancellor releases Sanskrit journal to mark ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’

 

Aligarh : Sanskrit language scholars, researchers and students eagerly waiting for essays to explore the depths of the Freedom Movement can now dip into ‘Prachapraggya’, a special number of a Sanskrit journal to mark the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

The journal of the Department of Sanskrit, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was released recently by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor at his office.

On the occasion, Prof Mansoor remarked: “Even a cursory leafing through the pages of ‘Prachapraggya’ will leave the readers in wonder and amazement. It contains well-documented research papers written in Sanskrit language on India’s Freedom Struggle and the impact this movement left on masses”.

“This journal is a go to book for an in-depth and detailed overview on the Indian Independence Movement. The research papers compiled in it have been written in Sanskrit in a way to re-imagine and reconstruct the image of India during the Freedom Movement. Many of the papers in the journal are on the contributions of Queen of Jhansi Lakshmi Bai, Mahatma Gandhi, Kamala Nehru, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Rabindra Nath Tagore, Swami Dayanand Saraswati, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Khudiram Bose, K M Munshi, B R Ambedkar and others”, said Prof Himanshu Shekhar Acharya (Chairman, Department of Sanskrit).

Dr Zafar Iftekhar, Dr Aliviea Raza and Dr Dilara Rizvi pointed out: “Prachapraggya is a review of the political, economic, social and intellectual Independence of India”.
