Siberian Federal University: Delegation of Uzbekistan Visits SibFU

On 14 July 2022, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited Siberian Federal University. During the visit, Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mekhriddin Khayriddinov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Russia Botirjon Asadov met with the management of SibFU.

“Siberian Federal University is actively developing cooperation with universities and scientific organizations of Uzbekistan. We have ties with eleven universities from different cities of this country. More than thirty students from Uzbekistan study at SibFU, and they already have their own community within the SibFU Peoples’ Friendship Centre, they support each other and help each other to adapt for the university life. At the moment, the University is holding the Summer University Program, and twenty two students and four teachers from Uzbekistan take part in the project — this is the largest group among the participants. If our meeting can help continue and enhance our cooperation, I will be very happy about it,” said SibFU Rector Maksim Rumiantsev.

Representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia also met with Uzbek students studying at SibFU and with the Summer University participants who came to Krasnoyarsk from Uzbekistan.

“The climate of the meeting turned very warm and friendly, and the Embasy members gave good advice to students from Uzbekistan. TheSibFU’s Uzbek students do not have classes at the moment, and most of them are back in their home country, so the meeting was held with those who stayed on campus for summer and those who came to Krasnoyarsk to participate in the Summer University. The days of the Summer University participants are full of educational and cultural events. The students told the representatives of the Embassy that a festival of national colour is planned for 22 July and what performances they are preparing for the evening concert,” said Anna Mezit, head of the Department for International Cooperation.

“Siberian Federal University is working in a number of areas which are of great interest for our country: the creation of complex industries is on the rise now, and there is a high demand for good engineers, mining workers, oil and gas specialists. Therefore we are interested in expanding cooperation and increasing the number of our citizens studying at SibFU,” said head of the delegation of Uzbekistan, Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mekhriddin Khayriddinov. “Visiting any federal university always gives us new experiences. Siberian Federal University stuns with its campus, it is really the hallmark of this university.”
