University of Bath: University of Bath Chemistry Department Hosts the 2022 Great Western Electrochemistry Symposium
The one day event in June this year covered all aspects of electrochemistry and electroanalysis, with numerous talks representing the scientific diversity of UK electrochemistry. Presenting up-to-date current research in electrochemistry, the yearly event brings together leading academics and postgraduate students within the electrochemistry community. This year the University welcomed researchers and postgraduate students from numerous universities including Bristol, Oxford, Exeter, Swansea, and Cardiff.
Staff, postgraduate students, and industry exhibitors enjoyed an afternoon of talks and poster presentations, with the major themes of the day being carbon dioxide reduction, ocean plastics, photo-electrochemistry, electrocatalysis, spectroelectrochemistry, and artificial intelligence. Professor Frank Marken, who organises the Bath annual event described the contributions as inspiring.
The event concluded with wine and nibbles in Chemistry’s 1 South building, to allow all participants to continue discussions and share ideas.
Prizes were presented to Daniel Skelson (Reading), Haotian Chen (Oxford), and Sabrina Waters (Bristol-Bath) for excellent talks, and for the best posters prizes went to Ayesha Mubshrah (Bristol) and Diyar Othman (Cardiff).
