28 crore unorganised sector workers engaged in 400 occupations registered on E-Shram portal, says Labour & Employment Minister Bhupender Yadav

New Delhi: Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav has said that over 28 crore unorganised sector workers engaged in 400 occupations have registered on the E-Shram portal so far which launched in August last year. Mr Yadav said that this portal will help the government in identification of informal sector workers and creation of a credible realtime database, which will in turn, help effective delivery of social security schemes.

The Minister was speaking at a function organised in New Delhi on Consultation on Labour Migration, Advancing resilient, inclusive and sustainable policies and institutions in India and Promoting Decent Work for All. He said, a progressive framework for labour reforms has been adopted in the country which is in line with discussion at International Labour Organisation Conference in Geneva. Mr Yadav added that concerning the internal migration in the country, the government has enhanced the operational safety, health and working condition code with the provisions of decent working condition, minimum wages, redressal mechanism and protection from abuse and exploitation.
