Central University of Punjab organized multiple events on “Nashe Se Azadi” under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan
Bathinda : On the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB), in association with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE), the Government of India organized series of events including Nukkad Natak, Declamation Competition and Poster Making Competition at university campus on the theme of “Nashe Se Azadi” under the national campaign of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
As a part of this program, the faculty and staff, under the leadership of Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice Chancellor, and Prof. B.P. Garg, Controller of Examinations and Registrar (O), attended an Online Interaction Session hosted by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) on Nashe Se Azadi. On this occasion, Hon’ble Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Mr. Ramdas Athawale, Ms. Pratima Bhowmik, Mr. A. Narayanaswamy and Secretary of Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. R. Subrahmanyam interacted with the youth of the country. In this online program, 75 universities (including Central University of Punjab), 700 educational institutions and more than one lakh youth participated online.
In his keynote address, Dr. Virendra Kumar, Hon’ble Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, highlighted various programmes initiated by MoSJE to raise awareness about the harmful effects of alcohol and drug addiction. He encouraged young people to work together to eradicate drugs from our society and create a Nasha Mukt Bharat. During the interaction session, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, Vice Chancellor, assures the assures Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment that CUPB will run a massive awareness campaign to sensitise youngsters on drug abuse and will introduce a special course in the academic curriculum to spread awareness about side effects of drugs in society.
After this, the CUPB students displayed a special Nukkad Natak to promote the message of ‘Say No to Drugs and Say Yes to Life’. On this occasion, students from various departments of the university took part in the declamation competition and poster making competition. They encouraged participants to make CUPB a drug-free campus. In the Declamation Competition, Devjani Chakraborty, Rashi Sharma and Anand Vijay got the first, second and third positions respectively. Mayuri, Kashish and Debjani stood on first, second and third positions respectively in the poster making competition. The winners were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 1500/-, Rs. 1000/-, and Rs. 500/- respectively. The above activities were executed by the organizing team of Dr. Vinod Kumar, Dr. Vinod Arya, Dr. R.K. Chaitanya, Dr. Jyoti Prakash, Dr. Kulbhushan Sharma, Dr. Deepak Pandey and Dr. Sanjeev Mander.
