Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: District Level Singing, Debate & Essay writing competition held at HKMDC Bandipora
BANDIPORA : Under the aegis of ‘Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programme, Hassan Khoyihami MemorialDegree College (HKMDC) Bandipora today conducted district level Singing, Debate and Essay Writing competitions on various patriotic themes.
The program was organized by NSS Units in collaboration with the Cultural Committee of the college under the patronage of Principal, Dr. Mohd Amin Malik.
In consonance with the theme of the campaign, the main aim of the programme was to inculcate among students patriotism, the sense of oneness and feeling of pride in one’s nation. It was also intended to select the most talented singers, debaters and writers among students of all colleges of the district.
The programme witnessed the participation from all the colleges of the district viz. GDC Tualail, GDC Gurez, GDC Ajas, GDC Sumbal, GDC Hajin besides the host college GDC Bandipora. The staff members of visiting colleges, the faculty members, students and NSS Volunteers of the host college attended the programme.
The Singing and Debate competitions were held in the auditorium while the Essay writing competition was held in the EDUSAT of the College.
The Jury for the competitions comprised faculty members from all the participating colleges. After evaluation by the selected jury, Danishta Majeed from GDC Ajas and M Irfan from GDC Bandipora secured first and second positions respectively in the singing competition while Suriya Mushtaq from GDC Hajin and Zainab Mehmood from GDC Bandipora secured first and second positions respectively in the Debate competition.
In the Essay Writing Competition, first position was bagged by Aiala Anwar from GDC Ajas while the second position went to Nahida Amin from GDC Bandipora.
The Principal of the host College Dr. Mohd Amin Malik also attended the program and addressed the audience in the valedictory session.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Malik gave an overview of the programmes ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programme. He talked about the supreme sacrifices made by the countrymen for the freedom of the country. He advised the students to take part in extra-curricular activities to build their life and career and play their role towards the development of the nation.
Earlier, the program started with a formal welcome address presented by Prof. Abdul Gani Kumar, Head department of Chemistry.
