University of São Paulo: Football as a tool to better understand social issues
From September 3 to October 22, journalist Guilherme Silva Pires, a doctoral student in Social Change and Political Participation at USP’s School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH), will teach at the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC) of São Paulo the Migration and Football online extension course . Applications, also online, can be made at this address . Virtual classes will be on Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm.
The aim of the program is to discuss aspects of contemporary society and issues of human sciences through football; encourage interdisciplinary studies showing how different areas of research dialogue with football and the sports field; address extremely current themes, such as globalization and the migratory issue.
It is a different course from other existing ones, as it uses sport (in this case, football) as an element of analysis of contemporary agendas with an interdisciplinary characteristic, which can be attractive to different professionals, students and researchers. The idea is to show how sport dialogues with various areas of research.
