131st Oath and Peak Cap ceremony of MURC held

Aligarh: The 131st Oath and Peak Cap ceremony was held at the Muslim University Riding Club (MURC). The newly appointed captain of the session was Maaz Khan Sherwani.

The Chief Guest on the occasion Prof Afeefullah Khan (Proctor, AMU) said; “MURC is the legacy of AMU as it?s the only and the oldest horse riding club in any university of the country. Taming an animal is an art of great value.”

Prof Syed Amjad Ali Rizvi (Secretary, Games Committee), in his speech congratulated the newly appointed captain and motivated all the members of the club to perform their best in the coming events and raise the bar of the club.

The ceremony started with opening speech by Dr Wasif Ali (President MURC), where he stated all the achievements of the club; details including the addition of new horses, the newly built up gazebo and addition in riding equipments.

As a part of the tradition the Chief Guest handed over the belt, cap and sword to the Captain as a symbol of him now being in charge. The Captain took oath to work towards the welfare of the club, its horses and members and to always be fair and kind.

The newly appointed captain thanked everyone for being a part of his big day.

The coaches of the club, Imran Shibli , Mahaveer Singh along with former captains ; Asadyar Khan, Mohd Mustafa, Tanseer A Khan, ex senior members; Dr Afaaq, Bilal A Siddiqui, Fuzail Ahmed and the senior members; Ahmed Hasan, Saud Ali, Talat B Shahab, Umar Abdullah,Fatima Rezavi, Kulsum Salahuddin, Abdul Wahid, Umair khan and others were also a part of the event.
