DC Bandipora releases District Statistical Handbook 2020-21
BANDIPORA : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Friday released District Statistical Handbook 2020-21 of District Bandipora compiled by District Statistics and Evaluation office Bandipora under the supervision of Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad.
The book has captured the development scenario of the district in all sectors and contains information on various sectors for past three consecutive years. The information is distributed in 156 parameters in 152 tables besides additional information in 66 parameters.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC praised the efforts of DSEO staff headed by Joint Director Planning for bringing out such a useful publication.
He said the book has presented a real picture of Bandipora district on developmental map that will guide us properly for next coming years to improve on developmental front.
He said the department has well researched all the parameters in every sector that will help us to understand the strengths and weaknesses so that we can have specific focussed interventions. He said the developmental plans in future will be carved out according to the information provided so that we can improve on developmental front.
The book has captured the data regarding Public Infrastructure and Utilities, Education, Health, Finance, Tourism, Climate, Social Welfare, Employment, Industries Agriculture, Horticulture and allied sectors besides other general information. The additional information captured this year included performance in Banking services, judiciary, Fisheries, Food Civil Supplies Annual Rainfall, post and telecom sectors.
Joint Director Planning also appreciated his staff for doing an academic research while recording the performance of every sector so that the planners of the district are able to get a clear idea about the positives and negatives, strengths and weakness in developmental front.
He said the book will help the administration to lay a focused attention on different weaker sections so that results are improved in future. He said the district is already recording the development at Panchayat level through Panchayat Development Index (PDI) that help to visualize the impact of various welfare schemes on ground.
Earlier, Bandipora was the first district to record the development of the district at Panchayat level through Panchayat Development Index (PDI). The idea was appreciated by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for conceiving idea and said it will go a long way in ensuring sustainable development.
PDI is aimed at monitoring the development at grassroots level. The monitoring is carried out by way of recording different indicators of development besides evaluating impact of central sponsored schemes in Panchayats. There are 81 outcome indicators spread over six thematic areas of health and Nutrition, Education, Agriculture and Allied sectors, Skill and self employment, financial inclusion and basic infrastructure.
