District Environment Plan revised in Rajouri to strengthen conservation measures

RAJOURI : The District Committee on Environment today revised the Environment plan at its meeting chaired by District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal.

The plan envisages to improve the overall parameters of the environment in the district by taking up widespread plantation, take measures to curb use of plastic/ polythene, improve the mechanism for disposal of solid waste and hospital waste, promote community participation and mass awareness, strengthening Green Clubs, soil and moisture conservation, water conservation, measures aimed at curbing air and water pollution and set up an effective grievance redress mechanism.

Detailed discussions were held on methods and plans for solid waste management, biomedical waste management, plastic waste management, pollution abatement in non-attainment areas, restoration of identified polluted river stretches and industrial waste management, step to be taken to preserve forest, water bodies/ wetlands, installation of Real time Noise Monitoring and Air Quality monitoring system , installation of solar rooftops etc.

The meeting decided to conduct additional plantation drives to enhance the green cover and take up fencing of the Forests.

The DDC also asked to incorporate the Real time Noise Monitoring system and Air Quality Monitoring System in the plan.

The meeting also decided to conduct special social media campaigns to educate the public about different environmental problems and to encourage people globally to take positive environmental actions to help create a better future.

It was also decided in the meeting to install solar rooftop panels in the Government Offices and hold special awareness activities to motivate the public to install solar rooftops at their households.

While discussing the conservation of water bodies, the ADDC informed that RDD has already worked on this project and new water bodies would be taken up. The officers of the SPCB Rajouri and DIC Rajouri shall jointly inspect the working condition of industries.
