Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan: DC Pulwama flags-off rally of students against Drug Abuse & illicit trafficking
PULWAMA : In order to aware the general public about ill effects of drug menace, the District Administration and Pulwama Police today jointly organized a rally under the banner of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ campaign.
The rally against drug abuse and illicit trafficking started from Govt. Degree College Boys Pulwama and culminated at District Administrative Complex, here and was attended by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, SSP Pulwama Gh Jeelani Wani, CEO Pulwama, ARTO, Medical staff of DH, teaching and non-teaching staff of GDC Pulwama, respectable citizens of Pulwama and civil/Police officers.
About 4000 students of different schools participated in the rally.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC gave an elaborate view about the menace of drugs, its sources, causes, consequences, and role of every member of society to curb this menace.
The DC said that the purpose of the rally is to raise awareness among masses to make Pulwama drug free. He urged youngsters/ students to be ambassadors against drug addiction. He said open discussion on such issues helps to eradicate the menace.
He said all misconceptions regarding selective impacts of social evils need to be eradicated by educating the youngsters regarding the potential of these sins to engulf the whole society.
He further added that youngsters have a great influence on society in building a well-developed nation and urged all participants to be an inspiration for youngsters in avoiding drugs and participating in various social friendly activities including sports.
SSP Pulwama said that the issue of drug abuse is a challenge before society. It is the duty of all stakeholders to join in creating awareness about the illegal use of drugs and the measures to be taken to prevent this menace.
