Dept of English concludes AMU ‘UGC NET/ JRF Coaching Programme’
Aligarh: Teachers from the Departments of English and Linguistics in the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) trained students for their UGC NET/ JRF preparations with proper strategy and study plans in a special ‘UGC NET/ JRF Coaching Programme’ held from October 29 to November 22.
During the programme organised by the Department of English in sponsorship with the UGC HRD Centre, MA and Phd students were taught their core subjects and the teaching and research aptitudes to ace the NET/ JRF exam.
Prof Mohammad Rizwan Khan, Chairman, Department of English said that the programme included lectures, interactive sessions and mock tests conducted by faculty members of the English and Linguistics departments along with outstation experts.
Adding that the programme covered all components of English literature and Linguistics syllabi; Prof Khan assured that such courses will become a part of the students’ academic calendar.
He pointed out that the Department of English has achieved new heights with positive changes such as syllabus revision in BA, MA and PhD courses, bringing 150 newly designed papers, new projects and outreach programmes, full elective papers, disability accommodation in syllabi, open book tests, initiation of artificial intelligence as an area of research in humanities research among other things.
Prof Khan urged students to actively participate in his efforts and vision to further raise the academic scholarship of the department.
He also distributed certificates to the participating students with other teachers.
Prof A R Kidwai, Director, UGC HRD Centre stressed the importance of inquisitiveness and curiosity required to NET/ JRF.
Prof Seemin Hasan motivated the students and encouraged them to carry forward the energy into the upcoming NET/ JRF exams.
Prof Vibha Sharma, Coordinator, English Literature Programme expressed gratitude on behalf of the department to the Director, UGC HRD Centre. She highlighted the team efforts of Dr Saquib Abrar and Dr Sadiya Jalal during the programme.
Participants also shared their feedbacks on conclusion of the programme.
