Teachers’ Day celebrated across Kupwara
DC addresses students at GDC Handwara, Kupwara, My New School Drugmulla Says, best way of celebration is to respect a teacher
KUPWARA : On the eve of Teachers’ Day, hundreds of functions were held across Kupwara district to celebrate the Day.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray on the occasion visited various Educational Institutions including Government Degree College (GDC), Handwara, GDC Kupwara and My New School Drugmulla. He was accompanied by CEO Kupwara and other concerned officers.
The DC was given a warm welcome by the enthusiastic and jubilant students and the faculties who were celebrating Teachers’ Day at each institution.
Addressing the functions, the DC threw light on the significance and historical background of the Teachers’ Day which also marks the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
‘Teacher is the real architect of a society and as such deserves respect and honor from all walks of life. The best way of celebrating Teachers’ Day is to respect and honour the teacher in real essence and to recognize the efforts of a teacher in shaping the students’, said the DC.
He said it was the prime duty of the student to respect his teacher as he (the teacher) is like a father to him. He made the students familiar with the values of the Teacher now and then.
The DC also asked students and the youth to be aware of the disastrous effect of drug menace and advised them not to fall prey to enemies of humanity and society, who are hell bent to involve society in the drugs. He asked them to follow and support the programme of District Administration, envisaged to completely eradicate the drug menace from the district and make Kupwara a drug free.
HOI’s and other dignitaries also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the significance of Teachers’ Day celebration. The DC earlier interacted with the students and the faculties.
The DC also inspected the infrastructure and other facilities available in the institutions.
Meanwhile, Teachers’ Day was celebrated in all the other Educational institutions of Kupwara district. The students participated in different activities including singing, dancing, speeches and other cultural variety programmes and expressed their love and respect for their teachers.
