AMU continues ‘Constitution Day’ celebrations
Aligarh: “It was our Constitution which embodied the essence of all caste, creed and religion and stood on the principles of strong democratic values and solution to all problems within the framework of society. It is not a mere book, but the soul of India and an epic, which every citizen should study and know,” opined Prof Mohd Shakeel Ahmad (Samdani), Dean, Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University at the ‘Constitution Day’ celebrations at the Bibi Fatima Hall.
He also spoke on the Preamble, the foundation of Indian Constitution and the fundamental rights and duties of citizens.
Prof Samdani appealed students and the other guests to inculcate the ideals and principles of the Constitution and for useful contributions to society and country in best possible ways.
The Bibi Fatima Hall also organised a quiz competition to mark the occasion. The Hall Provost, Prof Ghazala Parveen and wardens, Dr Kehkesha Fatima and Ms Hira Javed delivered speeches on Indian Constitution.
Ms Taqdees Mariam delivered the welcome address, while Ms Alisha Khan extended the vote of thanks.
Likewise, the University Women’s Polytechnic observed the ‘Constitution Day’ with Dr Shahnaz Hasan reading the Preamble to students and faculty members.
Dr Shahnaz paid tribute to Dr B R Ambedkar, who played a seminal role in the framing of the Indian Constitution as the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of Constituent Assembly.
The Sayyid Hamid Senior Secondary School-Boys observed the Constitution Day with PGT Teacher, Mr Ghufran Ahmad reading the Preamble to students and staff.
“The Constitution Day was celebrated to make students aware about their rights and duties enshrined in the constitution,” said Mr Syed M Mustafa (Principal).
