Swachhta Pakhwada at AMU

Aligarh : Class IV student, Abdullah Nawaz won the poster-making contest held on Wednesday (September 7) to observe the Nation-wide, Swachhta Pakhwada campaign at the Abdullah School, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

Maryam Jafri (Class V) stood second and Zareen Fatima (Class IV) received the third prize. Atika (Class IV) and Tayabba (Class V) shared the consolation prize.

The poster competition was among the slew of activities conducted to raise awareness on the importance of cleanliness at the school after the administration of a Swachhta pledge by Umra Zaheer (School Superintendent).

The teachers, students and non-teaching staff also planted tree saplings across the breadth of the school to mark the occasion.

A glittering function was also organised by National Service Scheme, AMU to celebrate Swachhta Pakhwada on September 6 with the objective of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on the issues and practices of Swachhta.

Dr Ali Jafar Abedi (University Health Officer) gave a lecture on ‘Sanitation, Health and Hygiene’.

Dr Arshad Husain (Programme Coordinator, NSS, AMU) emphasised the importance of maintaining overall hygiene in our daily life to prevent the prevalence of diseases.

Programme Officers, a large number of student volunteers and office staff of NSS were present on the occasion.
