Yesterday the Ural Federal University held the first lessons in the construction class for high school students. Ekaterinburg Mayor Aleksey Orlov came to Ural Federal University to talk to the students, who want to become builders in the future. He told the students how the construction sector is developing in the metropolis and answered their questions.

“Learning in such a class is included in the educational program of high school students. I really hope that the students who will study here will be able to understand even more clearly what profession they want to get in a higher education institution, we would like it to be construction specialties. Last year the Guild of Ural Builders expressed great concern about the fact that there is an acute shortage of construction staff in the enterprises. The initiative to create a construction class was supported by Ural Federal University, and thanks to Victor Koksharov, the Rector of UrFU, for that,” said Aleksey Orlov.

At UrFU, lectures in the construction class will take place once a week. These will be both theoretical lessons and visits to construction sites. The main task is to meet the needs of construction companies for qualified personnel.

“It is very important for us to get motivated high school students as early as possible, who will be happy to come to our Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture. The need for qualified personnel in the construction industry is enormous. The construction industry is developing very rapidly both in Ekaterinburg and in other cities of the Sverdlovsk Region. Our training is based on modern methodological principles, we teach computer modeling technologies. In a word, we are training specialists who have all the necessary knowledge to design and construct buildings at the highest level,” said Victor Koksharov, Rector of the UrFU.
