AMU Vice Chancellor welcomes Central Government’s grant for off-campus centres
Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor has welcomed the move by Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India to sanction a grant of Rs 100 crores and 99 lakhs for the construction of boys’ and girls’ hostels at the University’s off-campus centres in Malappuram (Kerala) and Murshiddabad (West Bengal).
Professor Mansoor said that the AMU off-campus centres in Kerala, West Bengal and Bihar have been facing a severe financial crisis, which prevented the University from constructing hostels in these centres. He said that with this grant, AMU will be able to fulfill the need for adequate residential facilities for students in these centres.
While expressing gratitude on the above grant, especially to the Minority Affairs Minister, Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, the AMU Vice Chancellor hoped that the Government of India would also favourably consider a similar request for financial support for the off campus centre in Kishanganj, Bihar.
