University of Greenwich: University of Greenwich on the up in Good University Guide

Big improvements in research, teaching quality, student experience and degree completion have resulted in a strong showing for the University of Greenwich in the Good University Guide 2023.

The guide, published by the Times and Sunday Times, sees Greenwich rise 21 places for research quality. The move from 94 to 73 in this year’s guide is in keeping with improved results in the recent Research Excellence Framework.

There were also similar improvements in teaching quality (65 to 43) and for student experience (61 to 42 place). Both are key metrics in the National Student Survey.

Degree completion at Greenwich has also risen, from 81.7% to 83.4%. Overall, the university improved by five places to rank 84 in the overall table.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Jane Harrington said: “It is great to see Greenwich continue to rise up the UK university rankings.

“The Good University Guide is so important because it looks at vital elements of university life, such as how students feel about teaching quality and their overall experience with us, as well as degree completion rates and graduate employment prospects.

“This is great progress and builds on last year’s rise of nine places. It is another milestone towards our ambition of being the best modern university by 2030. We believe in education without boundaries and that means striving to improve every aspect of our university.”

Greenwich also improved against modern London universities (two places, up to fifth), as well by one place against a comparator group of universities within the region (up to third). There was also a one-place rise to fifth against the University Alliance group of professional and technical universities.
