Bangalore: The fifth edition of the Stonehill Founder’s Day Run, organised by Raadiant Sports, was held on Sunday, 25th September in support of Morning Star Ashram. The day saw over 1000 people, from teachers, regular runners to first time runners, participating in different categories and enjoying the beautiful course through the picturesque village of Tarahunise in North Bangalore. Many of the runners challenged themselves, raised awareness and funds for a great cause.

The Stonehill Founder’s Day Run is an annual event that celebrates the Founder of Stonehill International School, Bangalore. The School was founded in September 2008 by Mr. Jitu Virwani, Chairman & Managing Director, Embassy Group who mentioned that he has enjoyed seeing how the Stonehill Founder’s Day Run has evolved over the years to become one of the city’s premier annual events.

The different categories included a half marathon, 10K, 4 x 5 K corporate relay (men/women/mixed), 4 x 5 K open relay (mixed), and a competitive and a non-competitive 5K run.

Mr. Jitu Virwani gave away the prizes to the winners. The winner in the half marathon men’s category (18-40 years) was Rahul Shukla with a timing of 01:14:05 and Tim Tim Sharma (18-40 years) won the women’s category with a 1:37:30 timing. The winner in the 10K men’s category (16-35 years) was Bhupendra Sahu with a timing of 36.29 secs and Vidhi Sheth (36-45 years) won the women’s category with an impressive timing of 47.16 secs. In the corporate relay, Cargill Runners Club won the men’s, women’s and mixed categories.

Stonehill International School will donate the proceeds raised to the Morning Star Ashram, a home for underprivileged children with physical and mental illnesses. The Morning Star Ashram was established by Fr. John, who has dedicated his life to the Ashram. He has set up a cheerful home for the boys with the help of generous contributions from the community.

Runners tackle marathons for all sorts of reasons. One participant commented, “I learnt that I am much stronger than I had ever imagined. I did not know how the day would go, but I just kept going and it was powerful to reach the finish line. The Stonehill Founder’s Day Run inspired me to run for a cause.”
