The University’s overall position means it remains in the top 10 for the three main rankings of UK universities – the Guardian ranking, The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide, and the Complete University Guide.

Bath also earned top 10 rankings for 11 subject areas:

Civil engineering (2nd)
Mechanical engineering (2nd)

University of Bath Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Ian White, said: “Maintaining our position in the top 10 of the Guardian University Guide is a superb result for our University community. It is further evidence of the outstanding contributions of many people across our community to create a strong and welcoming teaching and learning environment, with an extensive range of high-quality courses. I am delighted to see that we scored particularly highly in terms of careers prospects and student satisfaction, and that Bath was named a top 10 UK place to study for 11 subjects.”

The Guardian league table is compiled through a series of measures, including:

A Guardian score out of 100
Student satisfaction with course, teaching and feedback
Student to staff ratio
Spend per student
Average entry tariff
Value added score out of 10
Career prospects after 15 months
Percentage of first year students continuing into the second year
This result follows the news that Bath was named University of the Year in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide, published last week.

In the most recent National Student Survey, Bath placed 1st in England for overall satisfaction when comparing institutions listed in the Guardian University Guide, with an overall student satisfaction score 10% above the national average.
