Discussion Group inaugural session

Aligarh : The Discussion Group of the department of English, AMU organised its inaugural session on 29th September at the department.

 

Prof Mohd Asim Siddiqui, Chairman Department of English, in his presidential remarks threw light on the history of the Discussion Group, and said that it was a historic day as it connected the present scholars with the past stalwarts who participated in the Discussion Group.

 

Prof Aysha Munira Rasheed, Coordinator, Discussion Group encouraged the students to participate in such academic events in order to cultivate the ability to critically think and hone the skill of academic writing.

 

The program was moderated by Ms Humah Khan and Mr Sajid, Research Scholars, Department of English.

 

Ms Erum Siddiqui presented a paper titled, “Floral Wounds and Uncanny Natural Metaphors of War Casualties in Christie Lefteri’s A Watermelon, A Fish and A Bible”

and Ms Maryam presented a paper titled, “Assessing the Role of Code Switching and Code Mixing in ESL Classes: A Case Study of Select Schools of Aligarh Muslim University”

These papers were well-received and generated a good discussion.

 

Prof Samina Khan congratulated the students on organising and participating in academic discussion.

 

The paper-presenters were felicitated with certificates. Ms Zikra Mir, Research Scholar, presented a vote of thanks.
